Twin sisters Susan and Sarah Wang have
appeared on stage as a piano duo team at Cooper
Union, Weill Recital Hall, Alice Tully Hall, and
Steinway Hall in New York City. Although based in
the New York area, they have also performed in
Michigan, New Jersey, Vermont, Florida, South
Carolina, Maine, Illinois, New York, Germany,
Switzerland, Italy, Poland, and Canada. Currently
the sisters are actively performing and competing
as a two-piano team as well as performing solo and
chamber music.

SARAH WANG

Susan and Sarah were born and raised in Ridgewood, New
Jersey. They began piano and violin studies at the age of seven
and pursued both instruments until their senior year in high
school. During that time, they studied piano with
Dmitri
Rachmanov and violin with Vladimir Zyskind at the Manhattan
School of Music Preparatory Division. Susan and Sarah
attended the
University of Michigan in Ann Arbor to study piano
with Dr. Louis Nagel; they received their Bachelor degrees in
piano performance in 2005 with highest honors. In May 2007
they completed their Masters degrees in piano performance at
Manhattan School of Music with Dr. Marc Silverman. They are
currently studying at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater
Rostock with professors
Hans-Peter and Volker Stenzl in an
artist program for duo-piano.
The duo team has had private coachings and masterclasses
with John O’Conor, Christopher Harding, Franklin Larey,
Katherine Collier, Philip Bush, Seta Tanyel, Angela Cheng, Alvin
Chow,  Irina and Julia Elkina, Peter Basquin, Frank Levy,
Deirdre O’Donohue, Jeffrey Cohen, Hans-Peter and Volker
Stenzl, Alexander Braginsky, and Golda Vainberg-Tatz among
others. Music festivals they have participated in include
Adamant Music School in Vermont, the International Keyboard
Institute and Festival in New York, the Quebec International Duo
Piano Festival in Montreal, the Vitaly Margulis Masterclasses in
Freiburg Germany, the Bowdoin Summer Music Festival and
the Bard Music Festival.
Orchestral appearances include the Carnival of the Animals by
Saint-Saens with the Atlantic Classical Orchestra under Maestro
Stewart Robertson, the Bruch Concerto with the Florida
Classical Symphony Orchestra under Maestro Stewart
Robertson, the Poulenc Two Piano Concerto with the University
of Michigan Symphony under Kenneth Kiesler and the Mozart
Two Piano Concerto with the Manhattan School of Music
Preparatory Philharmonic under James Sadewhite. Susan and
Sarah have also given outreach performances in Ridgewood,
New Jersey and Ann Arbor, Michigan.

In March 2008, Susan and Sarah won 2nd prize in the
prestigious Murray Dranoff International Two Piano
Competition. They have also competed in the 4th International
Piano Duos Competition in Bialystok, Poland (3rd Prize), the
Ellis National Duo Competition (2nd Prize), the University of
Michigan Concerto Competition (1st Prize), and the Murray
Dranoff Junior International Two Piano Competition (1st Prize.)
They were also recipients of the Valerie B. Schwartz Grant of
the Salon di Virtuosi in 2001 and numerous scholarship awards
at the University of Michigan.
